Meet the Physician
Dr. Bertram received his degree in medicine from the University of Louisville and completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic residency at the University Hospital, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He went on to complete his fellowship at Tufts New England Medical Center. Dr. Bertram is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery has been nationally recognized for clinical excellence.
Dr. Bertram’s practice interests for the last 25 years of his 30-year career, have been total joint replacement of the hip and knee. He has received 5 patents for medical devices, and copyrights for other techniques. He has been actively involved in taking care of many professional athletes during his time in Naples, many of which traveled long distances to seek his advice. He is keenly interested in surgical nutrition and surgical optimization, which seeks to identify abnormalities in patients prior to surgery, which decreases complication rates.
Dr. Bertram and his wife have 2 children. He enjoys golfing, fishing, and spending time with his wife. He is an avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, and enjoys college basketball and college football season.
